UAE Telecom Company to operate in Bangladesh
The Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BRTC) has decided to award the country's sixth mobile phone operation license to Warid Telecom International LLC of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The 40th board meeting of the regulatory commission approved the offer from Warid, a concern of UAE's Dhabi Group, the New Age daily reported Tuesday.
Omniah of Jordan was the other bidder competing for the license, but its offer was not accepted.Dhabi group, the owner of Warid, had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Board of Investment in September to invest around $1 billion in various sectors in the country including telecom, tourism and pharmaceuticals.
The regulatory commission had invited proposals on Oct 5 from Bangladeshi companies, joint ventures with local partners or overseas companies with 100 percent foreign investment to set up, maintain and operate GSM telephony for general public use.
The objective of the invitation was to ensure reasonably priced, reliable, competitive and market-based mobile phone environment with a view to improving tele-density in the country. "The commission will award the license to the company after finalizing the procedures," said the official.
The license will be given for an initial period of 15 years, covering the entire country. After that, it may be renewed by the commission subject to satisfactory performance. Warid in 2003 bought a GSM mobile license in Pakistan through auction for $291 million.
Currently, there are around 7.5 million mobile users in Bangladesh provided for by five mobile operators - GrameenPhone, Aktel, BanglaLink, CityCell and the state-owned TeleTalk. Industry insiders said that Bangladesh was likely to see around 17 million subscribers by the end of 2007.

After reading all the comments for this blog, i feel that there is a craze about joining in Warid Telecom. I can understand and thats why i like to say something. As a new company it'll definitely need a huge stuff. But every body has to remember that its a new company and there are already 4 mobile operator in bangladesh. So to capture the market with existing customers and other operators , the company may be in need of skilled and experience stuffs. that why the options for freseher to join the company has a little chance. I am just saying all this things because i worked in a new telecommunication company. So other can think in a different way.

ReplyDeleteWarid Telecom or Dhavi Group is not only conglomerate in Bangladesh. There are companies around you. You can search jobs in Bdjobs.com. Please be specific about your dream job. Please just do not apply for all situations vacant. Its waste of time 4 you and for the HRD people in the company that is inviting applications. It’s better to search address from a search engine like Google.
We all have to remember not every one gets job, what we really need to do is:
• Develop our writing skills
• Fluency in English speaking
• Learn MS Office
• Grab a Driving License
• Read daily newspapers
• Do regular job search on the net
• Avoid begging/seeking job while you blogg

We are the proud nation; Dr. Younus has proved that, if you fight for a cause you might get the reward one day. The problem is we don't want to start our own enterprise; may be due to 1. Family burden. 2. Lack of resources and 3.Vision
Let’s start today to do something different. Start from scratch, anything! Do please ignore what people around would say, remember this is the society will not provide you a job, wouldn’t come forward to hold your hand and motivate you or give moral support. What they will do is back-biting. So, do not count on them, follow the way Dr. Younus has shown us. We should be with him in fighting poverty not matter whether we are with Grameen or not.
