It was in 1994 when Ericsson Inc. first invented this technology called Bluetooth named after Danish king Harald Bluetooth, who was successful to adjoin Norway and Denmark right in the manner technologies are being integrated today. But it wasn't until the year 2000 that Bluetooth became widely popular among devices. Bluetooth transfers data at a rate of 721 Kbps, which is 3 times the average speed of parallel ports and 8 times the average speed of serial ports. This bandwidth is capable of transmitting voice, data, video and still images. Unlike IrDA (Infrared Data Association), Bluetooth frequency ranges quite a distance from a metre to 100 metres even at blockades.
